The East Wollega Zone has awarded the Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of its contribution to disability-inclusive development and humanitarian support to communities in the zone.

The recognition highlights ECDD’s commitment to strengthening inclusive services, supporting conflict-affected communities, and fostering multisectoral collaboration with government authorities and other stakeholders.

“This recognition reflects the value of collaboration in removing barriers and ensuring that persons with disabilities can access essential services with dignity and independence,” said Dr. Getahun Semeon, Executive Director of ECDD. “We appreciate the partnership with East Wollega Zone and remain committed to advancing sustainable and locally led disability inclusion.”

ECDD’s contribution is linked to its involvement in the project entitled “Integrated Multi-sector Lifesaving Humanitarian Assistance for People Affected by Critical Malnutrition and Education Needs in Diga and Kiramu Woredas of East Wollega Zone in Oromia Region.”

The overall objective of the project is to ensure that all components of the integrated humanitarian response in Diga and Kiramu woredas are inclusive, accessible, and effectively meet the needs of conflict-affected persons with disabilities.

Through its disability-inclusive interventions, ECDD works to promote equitable access to essential services and ensure that persons with disabilities are meaningfully considered in humanitarian assistance and community-level development efforts.

ECDD expresses its appreciation to the East Wollega Zone Finance Office and government partners for the recognition and continued collaboration in advancing disability inclusion and strengthening inclusive humanitarian responses.
