This week, the ECDD conducted a Disability Inclusion Awareness Training in Nekemte town as part of its ongoing humanitarian intervention in East Wollega Zone. The project is funded by the Ethiopian Humanitarian Fund (EHF) and led by Fayyaa Integrated Development Organization (FIDO), under the project titled Integrated Multi-Sector Lifesaving Humanitarian Assistance for People Affected by Critical Malnutrition and Education Needs in Diga and Kiramu Woredas.

The training brought together zonal and district-level government officials and local implementing partners to strengthen disability-inclusive practices across sectors. Mr. Robsan E., ECDD Project Coordinator, opened the session, followed by remarks from East Wollega officials reaffirming their commitment to inclusive development.

Mr. Darara, President of the Oromia Organization of Persons with Disabilities (OPD), facilitated the training, covering key concepts such as disability rights frameworks, common barriers to inclusion, and sector-specific strategies for Health, WASH, Nutrition, and Education.

ECDD encourages all participants to apply the lessons learned and integrate disability inclusion into their programs and services. Together, we can build a more equitable and accessible future for all.
