The Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) has held a certification and appreciation event to recognize teachers, sign-language interpreters, production professionals, and the MINCH Platform team who contributed to the development of accessible accelerated learning materials for students with disabilities in conflict-affected and remote and areas of the Amhara region.

The event, held at ECDD’s head office, brought together teachers who prepared and presented tutorial lessons, sign-language interpreters, members of the production and MINCH teams, and ECDD management.

During the event, Ms. Tigist Feleke, MINCH Platform Coordinator, presented an overview of the materials produced. A total of 270 tutorial videos and 240 tutorial audios were developed in line with the curriculum of the Amhara Regional State School Bureau. The materials were produced under ECDD’s Supporting Access to Education Needs for Crisis Affected Communities Project, with financial support from EHF, to expand access to inclusive and accessible learning opportunities for students with disabilities.

The production process involved close collaboration among teachers, the production team, and the MINCH Platform team from lesson preparation and recording to editing and post-production to ensure that the materials were accurate, engaging, accessible, and curriculum-aligned.

The event also featured selected tutorial videos and audio materials, along with voice feedback from MINCH users. The feedback provided an opportunity for contributors and ECDD management to hear directly from users about the value of the materials.

In his remarks, Dr. Getahun Semeon, ECDD Executive Director, highlighted the importance of the initiative in expanding educational opportunities for students with disabilities, particularly those living in conflict-affected and remote areas.

“This work is made for students with disabilities who live in conflict-affected and remote areas, enabling them to access tutorials through the MINCH Platform and school resource centers using the tablets provided by the project.”

Dr. Getahun expressed his appreciation to the teachers, sign-language interpreters, production company, and MINCH Platform team for their contributions. He emphasized that the initiative goes beyond providing lessons by helping address barriers to education faced by children with disabilities because of their location and circumstances.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to the teachers, production team members, and sign-language interpreters. The certificates were presented by Dr. Getahun Semeon and Ato Tesfaye, ECDD’s MEAL Director.

The audio tutorials are currently accessible through the MINCH 6768 IVR Platform under the Inclusive Education channel, The audio audio and video tutorials are also intended for use through school resource centers equipped with project-supported tablets, enabling students and teachers to access the learning materials using appropriate digital resources.
