
Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development in collaboration with Federal TVET agency and other stakeholders, inaugurated a guideline to include persons with disabilities in TVET. On august, 2, 2019, ECDD, organized a launching event to bring the guideline in action. During the event stakeholders participated in raising ideas on the process of mainstreaming the guideline to different government and private TVET institutes .
In the event, it’s mentioned that ECDD in partnership with Cheshire Services Ethiopia (CSE) is implementing “EmployAble II” supported by Light for the World Netherlands and Lillian Foundation with the aim of improving access to inclusive skills training and employment programs for persons with disabilities in Ethiopia. In this project, ECDD is closely working with private companies, FDRE TVET Agency, public TVETs, government organizations, employment agencies like Info-mind solutions, Society of Human Resource Management in Ethiopia (SHRME) and Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs). During the launching event, director of directorate of minister of Science and Higher Education, Ato Birhanu Dejene, stressed that Ethiopia still strives to support persons with disabilities to take part in the development process.
The document will be dispatched to relevant stakeholders so that every institute will consider the guideline in their system to be incorporated
