          One of the contemporary dance performed by Katim Dance Group

ECDD in collaboration with ENDAN and FENAPD hosted a street show to advocate the rights of persons with disabilities in Ethiopia. The event was initially supported by the US Embassy in Ethiopia.

During the opening of the event, Ms. Zenebech, board member of the FENAPD made a speech stressing that everyone must collaborate to enhance the awareness about the issue of disability in Ethiopia. Ms. Zenebech said that the rights of persons with disabilities has never been the concerning issue but today situations are improving and persons with disabilities are now more aware of their rights.

The event hosted different activities; dance performance by Katim disability dance group and Ethio-Habesha Deaf Arts were the major ones. The two dance team performed different types of dances to advocate the issue of disability. Katim dance on the other hand, involved audience to practice the use of crunches. The Ethio-Habesha Deaf Arts also performed differnet cultural dances especially dancing with sign languages was one of the remarkably recognized dance by many audiences.

The event was conluded by a remarking speech by Mr. Melaku Tekle, executive director for ECDD, pointing that everyone must be aware of the issue of disability in everyday life. the schools, the hospitals, the government offices, the road and so forth are the situations that affect the daily lives of persons with disabilities therefore,everyone must be aware and must aware others too.
