ECDD staff and distinguished guests celebrate “International Day of Persons with Disabilities” on Dec.26,2022 in Addis Ababa, Washington Hotel.

“International Day of Persons with Disabilities” is internationally celebrated for the 31st and nationally for 30th time on December 3, 2022. The international theme of Disability Day of the year 2022 was “Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fueling an accessible and equitable world”.
Honorable Dr. Artist Tesfaye Abebe
There were eminent numerous guests and staff at the event. Getahun Semeon (PhD), Executive Director of ECDD warmly welcomed participants and explained barriers that can impede persons with disabilities participation in the community. Respected guest of the day, Honorable Dr. Artist Tesfaye Abebe(known as ‘Father’) enlightened capability of persons with disabilities in his reflective words of opening speech. Fascinated presentations about current technological innovations for persons with disabilities, entertaining songs, awards, and mime theater performed on the program.
Mrs. Rigbe Gebrehawaria, Commisioner for Disability Rights and Rights of Older Persons
Mrs. Rigbe Gebrehawaria, Commissioner for Disability Rights and the Rights of Older Persons, shared her life and career related experience in an influencing way. The program was organized by ECDD funded by, Civil Society Support Programme Phase2 (CSSP2), International Labor Organization (ILO) and See You Foundation.
